Renovation Angel was founded in 2005 by Steve Feldman as a non-profit entrepreneurship charity that sets out to protect the Earth through landfill waste reduction, create millions of dollars of new jobs in the recycling industry, and ensure that donated luxury goods get a second chance in a new home.
About 292.4 million tons of waste end up in landfills every year according to the United States Environmental Protection Agency. A contributor to these landfills is home demolition and renovation projects. Every year 100,000 kitchens are torn out and end up in these landfills. Renovation Angel is the most financially savvy and sustainable renovation and remodeling solution for the luxury trade and their clients. Donated kitchens, appliances, bath fixtures, lighting, furniture, and home décor are recycled and repurposed into the circular economy. Since its founding back in 2005 in Greenwich, CT, Renovation Angel has successfully diverted over 43 million pounds of waste from landfills, created over $26 million in new recycling jobs, repurposed over 7,400 kitchens and countless interior fixtures.

Children of Fallen Patriots
Cynthia and David Kim
In 2002, The Kims founded Children of Fallen Patriots which has delivered over $40 million in scholarship support and educational counseling to children of our country’s fallen service members.
The Kims’ commitment to this cause grew out of David Kim’s experience in 1989, when five days before Christmas, his friend, Sergeant William Delaney Gibbs from the 7th Infantry Division was killed in action during Operation Just Cause in Panama, leaving behind a young wife and an unborn daughter. David Kim served with Sergeant Gibbs, was inspired by his sacrifice and never forgot about Sergeant Gibbs or his daughter.
Since 2002, Children of Fallen Patriots has grown in its mission and vision to extend peace of mind through college scholarships to Gold Star families in all 50 states and all branches of the military. They have assisted almost 1,900 students across the USA.
Through Children of Fallen Patriots, the Kims’ hope is to bring awareness to the needs of military families who have lost a spouse – 55 percent of which raise an average of two children on less than $55,000 a year. Government aid, while helpful, leaves a gap of about $8,000 a year.
Each year, Children of Fallen Patriots strives to bring on 500 new students. This year, Covid-19 has both increased the need to help the children and hindered the organization’s standard means of fundraising. We at Actionnate wish them well and encourage everyone to click here to learn more about the organization.
